Cropping an ear helps it stand erect.
Dogs with cropped ears are less likely to suffer from infections of the ear canal.
Cropping their ears actually improves their hearing, as well as protecting their ears from injuries.
All of our Full Rights/Breeding Rights puppies will leave cropped, no exceptions as you are planning to represent the breed in some way.
Our pet puppies, priced $2,000 and up, include ear cropping in their price as well.
If you are buying a pet under $2,000, but would like an ear cropping we charge $400 (all care included, excluding propping after ‘Go Home Day’).
Ear cropping is typically done when the puppy is 6 weeks old; this is considered the ideal age range for the procedure as the cartilage is still soft enough to manipulate and shape properly
Our puppies receive dissolvable stitches during their operation. Stitches usually dissolve 7–14 days after surgery. Keeping the incisions dry and clean is MANDATORY. The dog's ears are bandaged and taped into an upright position on the day of surgery.
All of our puppies receive pain and antibiotic injections during the procedure. The following day all of our puppies are started on antibiotics, dosage differs per puppy, for a week to insure no infection at the surgery site.
The dog's ears are taped to rubber straws to help them stand up (propped). If owner cannot prop ears, if puppy is brought back to us we charge $20.
Ear Cropping is a cosmetic surgical procedure, these procedures cause pain and distress, and, as with all surgical procedures, are accompanied by inherent risks of anesthesia, blood loss, infection and death.
Royal Pacific Kennels will need to receive a signed non-liability ear cropping contract before procedure is done, if puppy is already reserved.
